Childlike Faith

I recently read this book called "Heaven is For Real" and in the book Todd Burpo, the author, talks a lot about childlike faith. With childlike faith comes childlike humility, which I feel is one of the hardest struggles adults, and teenagers, face today. This childlike humility comes from that precious time before we build up enough pride to care about what other people may think. It is the opposite of ignorance; it’s intellectual honesty. It is to be willing to accept reality and to call things as they are even when it is hard.
In order to reach this state of "childlike humility" we must get rid of the masks that cover up who we really are. A lot of times we think of humility as being ashamed of or belittling ourselves when, in reality, it is having the strength and courage to embrace who we really are before God. When we have the courage to reveal our true selves to God and remove our masks, we are humbling ourselves before God, therefore also humbling ourselves before the world, not caring about what other people may think. This humility is something that we should strive for 24/7.
Matthew 18:1-4 says “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
